Installing non-steam Killing Floor

Killing Floor in 6 steps:


1. Download Killing Floor (ReVOLVeR or GTI REPACK release) and install it.


2. [Clients] Download and install the latest Update.
   [Servers] Update to latest version via the hldsupdatetool.


3. Download and install the new Revloader 1011+.


4. Download and install the map packs in a numerical order (1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5)


5. Open the rev.ini file using notepad. Change the PlayerName entry to the name of your choice.
rev.ini can be found in the KillingFloor root folder.


6. Run revloader.exe to play!

Playing on Dedicated Cracked Servers


1. Assuming you have already installed the game and all the necessary files properly, you will now learn how to simply connect to servers you can play on.


2. Browse to our mainpage Killing Floor serverlist which can be found here.


3. Write down the IPs & ports of the servers you'd like to play on.


4. Start Killing Floor. Choose the Multiplayer -> Favorites server browser.


5. Right-click anywhere and choose "Add to Favorites".


6. Paste the IP:port of one of the servers you wish to play on, then press "OK". Don't forget to separate the IP and port with the  :  symbol.


7. If you've done everything right, hitting "Refresh" will make the server you added to appear. Double-click the server to connect to it. Repeat the process to add more servers.

Playing Killing Floor via Hamachi

Many server administrators prefer to run their non-dedicated servers on Hamachi. Hamachi is an application that's able to emulate LAN-type connections.
Warning: Hamachi, to some degree, is like setting up VIP highway from one computer over the internet to your house.  It is not a safe thing to join some random hamachi network and just leave it idling.  It is recommended that you use it only with buddies you can trust.  Set the network to public in vista and turn off file sharing.





1. Download and install Hamachi.


2. Join one of the many non-steam Killing Floor networks.


3. Find the person who's hosting the server (will have [HOSTING] tags), right-click on him and copy his IP.


4. Run Killing Floor. Go to Multiplayer -> LAN. Right Click anywhere and choose "Open". Paste the host's IP on the form that will appear and press "OK".

Configuring Xfire for non-steam Killing Floor

1. Browse to your main xfire directory. Find the xfire_games.ini file and open it with the notepad.
(Vista\Win7: Look in C:\ProgramData\Xfire)


2. Press control+f to use the notepad's search form. Find the Killing Floor entry and edit the following lines:

LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\InstallPath
LauncherExe=steam.exe
DetectExe=steamapps\*\killingfloor\System\KillingFloor.exe

to:

LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\killingfloor
LauncherExe=revloader.exe
DetectExe=System\KillingFloor.exe

It should look like this


3. Save and exit notepad.


4. Run Xfire. Go to Tools -> Options -> Games tab -> expand the "Not Installed" section and select Killing Floor.


5. Check the option that says "Manual Setup" then browse to Killing Floor folder.


6. You will have to add these Extra Command Line parameters in order for the game to launch properly:

7. Once you're done, click Apply and then OK.




NOTE:
- There is no Xfire server browser support for Killing Floor yet.
- When XFire updates, the xfire_games.ini will need to be modified again with the above procedure.

Configuring Qtracker for non-steam Killing Floor


Killing Floor is now supported in the latest public version of Qtracker [4.9.1].
You will need to configure Qtracker to support Non-Steam Killing Floor:

1- Open Qtracker. Go to "View" --> select "Settings" --> "Games" --> "Installed" --> select Killing Floor.

3- Click the BROWSE button for "Application used to play game" and browse to and open "revLoader.exe"
[Example:  C:\Program Files\KillingFloor\revLoader.exe]
Game directory will be set automatically.
Add -launch System\killingfloor.exe to the command line. Click Apply, then OK.

To Import EPC Serverlist into Qtracker:

In the "games&folders pane", right click Killing Floor -> select "new" -> "folder" and name it "Private Servers".

To add a single server:
Right click on the "private servers" folder you created --> select "New" --> "Server", enter the server IP/port to add it to your list.

To import a server.txt file:
1- Download qtracker serverlists from the main-site.
2- Right click the "private servers" folder --> select "Import servers into this folder" and browse to the private server .txt file that you downloaded. Click open. Press F5 to refresh the list and wait a moment.

Alternative EASY importing:
You can also add single or multiple server IP's to Qtracker by copy/pasting them right into the server window of the game folder you are viewing. Nice!

Question: How do I drop down Killing Floor's console?
Answer: By default, hitting the tilde (~ or `) button on your keyboard will make the dropdown console appear.

Question: My game is laggy. I have a low fps count, how can I improve it?
Answer: First of all, make sure the settings in Nvidia control panel / ATI catalyst aren't interfering with 3D applications - games.
Run Killing Floor. Go to Settings -> Display. Choose "Custom" Game Details and tick the "Show Advanced Options" box. Disable Character Shadows, Antialasing and Anisotropic Filtering.
If you still lag you can disable/lower more settings, but the game won't look so good.

Question: I get a version mismatch error whenever I try to connect to a server. What's wrong?
Answer: Make sure you are running the same Killing Floor version as the server and that you have installed the map packs.

Question: Whenever I try to connect to a server, the game starts downloading a certain file. The download never finishes and I get a "connection failed" error. What should I do?
Answer: You have not installed Revloader and/or the latest update.

Question: Ever since I updated to v1008 or higher, I cannot access perks and/or I cannot connect to servers [stuck on "Conecting (F10Cancels):]
Answer: From version 1008 and onwards, the revLoader no longer works if its files are placed in the KF\System folder.  Currently, revLoader must be installed to the root Killingfloor folder.
To fix this problem:
Search for and delete any old revLoader files from the System folder if they exist:
rev.ini -- revApps.ini -- revLoader.exe -- steamclient.dll
steam.dll -- tier0_s.dll -- vstdlib_s.dll -- steam_appid.txt

Then install the revLoader posted in this thread to the root KF folder.

okay first off.....Rapidshare sucks if ur tryin to help out the underground community rapidshare takes forever to get the download then when it lets u its takes forever to complete then u have to wait another day to download the other parts....stick with megaupload and megaupload only...i dl and install defence alliance 2....which dosnt work no way to play it duh....and its ruined my killing floor which i had most of my perks maxed out and it erased them...wtf  i am very angry that u guys would post such a bad file....please fix and resolve the da2 file and do away with rapidshare...all of us epc supporters would greatly appreciate this

hello im new here and i have a big problem i donwloaded kf full update to 1011 and wanted to install. I started to unpack it with 7zip becouse that are zip files.. after it unpacked there was an error. Its says that the files are damaged.

Hey, I've tried Winrar and 7zip including HJsplit, hjsplit got it to join however still acts the same.  It doesn't work, any suggestions to find the bad files or whats wrong?

Ok i had major issues with rapidshare, it blows, that dam timer never moves for me..so in case anyone else has issues i've mirrored it.

If you have hamachi working and friends in same hamachi network just open kf and "host game" select map and settings and start your server. Friends must copy your HAMACHI ip like 5.som.eth.ing. and add to favorites or console open THIS.IS.THE.IP

Well you can chose but listen is probably easier.. Its just klick "host game" and you have server up dedicated is usually little more complicated but you don`t need to keep your game open all the time.

Ok, I updated KF. But now, I have same problem as Jak4ever, but I'm sure that I have newest revLoader version...My revLoader has name of "KF_revLoader.exe" and I don't really know what to do >.> When I cancel the connecting it writes "Connecting Attempt Cancelled" and under it "noreconnect"

But if i fixed it, it shows me again no errors found but if i start the game again the  testfiles show me again KFMod.ucl failed and again and again ....

When you run the game, it modifies that file. 
Probably like it does for other files that are either created or mofified on game startup.

I also have this problem...when i'm not in game i run that Test file thing and it says that KFMod.ucl failed the test.....and i can't even connect to servers ....it just gives me that Connecting screen and thats all.....wtf??
