Hi I downloaded the patch v1.0.1.2 and the fix and Steam Up But when i clicked on l4d.exe i got ENGINE ERROR : NO PREMISSION  PLEASE HELP EDIT: i had the previous version 1.0.1.1 with REVEMU and i just copy and past the new version with the fix and i started SteamUP but i dont know what to do with it. HEEEELP |

I tried running without steam, but then it says: You must run steam.
This is what i did. First i had l4d with v1.0.1.1 and with revemu. so i was playing it without steam.
Then i downloaded the new patch+survival pack and the fix + the Steamup app.
Then i copy and past the patch+survival pack and the fix in l4d folder.

The SteamUP patches your legitimate version of Steam so you had best either have a back up of your original files of Steam or a seperate account, personally I would stay away from all Steam related patchers and just wait for a stand alone fix.

Okay so had a quick poke around and found this (please be aware I'm not at home and therefore have NOT tested this is any way): It includes rev-emu 9.76RC1 All the present files are exactly whats needed to play after apply the update. Only some issues with emulator make this a pre-release. At this time the know Issues are related to an error popup window while loading the game to main menu, just alt-tab to desktop click ok and go back to game. it should load normally then. Next known issue is when loading a map. It will show again the error pop ups.so accept them again and keep back to game and play. Direct download link:

I have no comment on that yet. For now, I have downloaded both the russian patches, and then I got the L4D standalone R1.18RC2 file from garena.com to fix the "you need steam to play" error.
After that, I can play the survival map fine. The only issue I have so far is the sound has lot of static. I'm going to wait for the others to download other releases and confirm if the sound is ok.

This method worked beautifully, one note to be made is that client.dll goes in to the bin folder inside of the left4dead folder. And the generator noise... 1. Steamclient.dll goes in to the bin folder in the installation directory. 2. client.dll goes inside the other bin folder inside of the left4dead folder. Only issue so far is that most sounds have a static pop to them. |

Just installed. No more time to test, but played online:
In the middle of the game randomly the console pops up saying something about the lighting. "re downloading lighting" or something. This of course happens while in the middle of battle. Also, the constant sound (to me sounds like the KSHHHH of a walkie talkie) isn't that bad.
Other than that, it works. I'm sure the lighting thing is an easy fix.

Edit the 'Playername' section of your rev.ini file with notepad and change it to the name you want. |

Always replace the items unless a readme or something says otherwise. Never ever overwrite the whole folder as you may not be able to play the game if you do so. |

That's because winrar does not replace folders with the same name but instead automatically adds/replaces the files inside. It will never overwrite a whole folder.
The guy didn't mention that he was extracting files though.

If all you're doing is updating, read Captain's post above. I just extracted the files into my l4d folder, choosing "yes to all" when prompted for overwrite. I then moved the files that Cap'n says to move. Rename yourself in the rev.ini file, and just play as usual.

No, from what I've been told this version of the DLC can be installed straight from version 1.0.0.0 and then you do the rev-emu thang, although as I said before I'm on holiday at the moment and so can't check the authenticity of any of these until I get back on Sunday.

Any one having sound problems, it is most likely caused by either a bad update package or you are using skullptura's release... The problem is from the soundcache. To fix it go here: Left 4 Dead/left4dead/maps/soundcache Delete "_master.cache" - the game should rebuild it and that will fix the problem. |

depends... ARR you using a full update [works on all versions] or a mini update [must be used on v1.0.1.1 only]? Its always best to install the latest rev-emu after updating if you don't already have it or if its not already included with the update... Speaking of Updates... Well i reinstalled the whole game, install the standalone 1.0.1.2 and then the L4D Standalone Patch Installer v1.18 rc2 and now it works  |

UGH just when I got everything setup to run on 1.0.1.2

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:
Survival Mode Changes
Darkened the Lighthouse background movie and increased the contrast with the user interface elements
Chapter selection is now available when creating a Survival lobby
Single player coop now works correctly after playing Survival online
The correct game mode will be set when playing back a demo
Changed holdout server spew to be development only
Stats are no longer updated while viewing a demo
Correctly update the leaderboard based on the player's personal time, not the team best time
Show the player's best time in the scoreboard
Removed Survival exploits from The Terminal, Last Stand, The Crane, The Boathouse and The Warehouse
Fixed tanks sometimes not spawning after 15-20 minutes

Hey guys, I did the new patch and all...game runs at loading screen and then I get FOUR error messages, I know earlier on it said that it was expected, and you alt+tab and get rid of them, but when I do the game crashes.
The following errors are:
CSteamClient: GetlUtilSteam error: GetlUtilSteam004 not defined! Please update the emulator.
CSteamClient: GetlUtilSteamRemoteStorage error: STEAMUSERSTATS_INTERFACE_VERSION003 not defined! Please update the emulator.
CSteamClient: GetlUtilSteam error: GetlUtilSteam004 not defined! Please update the emulator.
CSteamClient: GetlUtilSteam error: GetlUtilSteam012 not defined! Please update the emulator.
Steam is not running. You must use Steam
Thats about it, but I do have Steam running!

That's what Im confused at, what exaxctly is rev-emu? I downloaded 1.18 RC2.exe and just ran that...is that correct? EDIT!: Fixed it, I used manual rev-emu! It's better to do this...and a new client.dll - and follow the instructions above for anybody who is stuck! Now to test it online.. Will report back. |
