Since the first time in CoD History you, as a player/client, now need to crack your multiplayer game [CoDWaWmp.exe]
Before Patch 1.2 & 1.3 only the server side needed cracking.

For v1.7 use CoD 5 1.7 Private Client Patch.exe (make sure that the Private Client Patch.exe remains running in the background) prior to loading the game with the Multiplayer file CoDWaWmp.exe.

How to install cracked COD:World at War:
Current Game Version: v1.6

1 - Download Reloaded Release if you don't already have it.

2 - Download Patch 1.0-1.2, Patch 1.2-1.4, Patch 1.4-1.5 and Patch 1.5-1.6, Patch 1.6-1.7 and the EPC_Pack_CoDWaW_1.7 using the links in our Download section

3 - Install game using a keygen to generate a valid CD-KEY.

4 - Run Patch 1.2, then Patch 1.2-> 1.4, Patch 1.4-> 1.5, Patch 1.5-> 1.6, finally Patch 1.6->1.7 to update game.

5 - Update Punkbuster for CODWaW with pbsetup.exe:
Run pbsetup.exe, add game: CoDWaW, and check for updates.

6a - To play Solo/Singleplayer:
Copy Vitality's Single Player crack [CoDWaW.exe] to installation folder, create a shortcut to it on yer desktop, and name it "CoDWaW Solo"
Start game and click SOLO to start Single player game.

6b - To play on CO-OP/LAN: [ie. NAZI ZOMBIES!!]
Copy the Multiplayer LAN fix [CoDWaWsp_lanfixed.exe] to installation folder, create a shortcut to it on yer desktop, and name it "CoDWaW COOP"
Start game and click COOP to host/join a COOP LAN Game.

6c - To play Multiplayer Online:
Copy the Multiplayer Loader CoD 5 1.7 Private Client Patch.exe to installation folder, create a shortcut to it on yer desktop, and name it "CoDWaW MP Loader".

Create a shortcut from the file named CoDWaWmp.exe to the desktop, and name it "CoDWaW MP".

Make certain you load CoD 5 1.7 Private Client Patch.exe / "CoDWaW MP Loader" shortcut and leave it running in the background then double click on the file named CoDWaWmp.exe / "CoDWaW MP" shortcut to enter multiplayer and following the instructions below will allow you to open the console in the game and connect to a crackedserver.

Start game and Do NOT create an online account!!
Just click CANCEL - NO - CANCEL to bypass making online account.
Go into Multiplayer Options to change your name.
To Join a server, open the console [~] and type:
/connect IP:Port
Example:
/connect 85.145.48.132:28960

Disable Account Creation at Start-up Permanently:
Close game and open config_mp.cfg with notepad. Find this line and change 1 to 0:

In Windows XP config_mp.cfg can be located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\$$$

In Windows Vista config_mp.cfg can be located in::
C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\$$$

Attention: This file is hidden by default
You have to make it visible first in the folderoptions!

Rename the $$$ folder to your player name,
put that name in the active.txt and make it read-only,
Make sure seta com_startupIntroPlayed is set to 0 in config_mp.cfg, save and exit.
Set config_mp.cfg to read-only [please report if this causes any bugs.]

You will now have an offline profile with account creation disabled.

WARNING:

-Do NOT create an online account!!
just click CANCEL - NO - CANCEL to bypass making online account.

-Don't forget to go to Multiplayer Options to change your name and other settings

-Try connecting to a server in-game, just type this in console /connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:28960 (just change the xxx:port # to a IP:port of your choice)

-To join cracked servers in a more easy way then using console just Follow the Configure QTracker Instructions

How to add private servers to QTracker:

COD: World at War is now supported in the latest public version of Qtracker [4.9].

To add a cracked serverlist to Qtracker:

1- Open Qtracker.

2- In the games&folders pane, right click Call of Duty 5: World at War
Select "new" -> "folder" and name it "Private Servers".

To add a single server:
Right click on the "cracked servers" folder you created --> select "New" --> "Server", enter the server IP to add it to your list.

To import a server.txt file:
1- Download qtracker serverlists from the main-site.
2- Right click the "cracked server" folder for your game --> select "Import servers into this folder" and browse to the private server .txt file that you downloaded. Click open. Press F5 to refresh the list and wait a moment.

Alternative importing:
You can also add single or multiple server IP's to Qtracker by copy/pasting them right into the server window of the game folder you have selected.

Does my computer support CoD:WW?

For those of you unsure as to whether you can run CoD:WW or not use this link to test if you hardware is good enugh www.systemrequirementslab.com

Some users are having issues loading the game, it starts up but hangs on a black screen. Sometimes it can take a while for the introduction video to load up so give it a good 5 mins (this will seem like half an hour). If not

a. Locate the WW "Main" folder go to the location you installed the game too and click Program Files > Activision > Call of Duty World at War > Main
b. Open the "Video" folder and locate the file named "Treyarch.bik"
c. Right click on this file and choose "Rename"
d. Change the extension from bik to pak and press return
e. Try joining again

**Note** Make a copy of this file and keep it in a safe place before renaming the extension

6. I have no sound ingame since Patch 1.2 what can i do?

Go to Control Panel and in Hardware & Sound click Sound and in the Playback tab just doubble click the device you are using, then in the advanced tab change the sound format to 16-bit(I use the 16bit 48000hz DVD-quality)

7. When i connect i get "No or bad challenge at address"

Its been a problem for alot of players and the best thing to try is to type /reconnect - then press enter, try this a few times and it should work. Also make you cracked you CoDWaWmp.exe after installing patch 1.2, this is the first time in CoD history the multiplayer client needs a crack.

Singelplayer Errors:

First try and disconnecting your internet cable and give it a try.

If you are a advanced user know your way around a computer you can do this: Run regedit then hkey local machine-software-activision-call of duty-codkey-change to MPC8MD8P78P175DU890F.

Common Problems & Solutions - Client Side - Punkbuster Problems:

I get kicked and get a message Punkbuster Disallowed Program/Driver [80249]

There isent a 100% solution for this but you can try these steps and give it a try after every step.
-Disable all programs not needed when playing, speacialy programs like Daemon tools, Alcohol120%, Download managers etc.
-Do a complet virusscan of your computer, NO fast scans it needs to be complete.
-Re-install PB and DirectX and make sure you have the latest videodrivers.
-If nothing helps try un-installing your virus software.

Punkbuster kicked player ' ' (for ? minutes) Empty Player Name Disallowed

This is becasue you have not choosen a name in Multiplayer Options in Options & Controls, if you dont have the option PLAYER NAME there it means that you dident press CANCEL - NO - CANCEL when the game asked you to create a Online Profile.
To fix this you have 2 options, re-install the game or go to the CoDWaW Profiles folder, located here:

Vista Users: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles
XP Users: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles

When you find it do this:
-Create a folder in the profiles folder and name it what you like but for now lets call it smith
-Open the active.txt file in profiles folder and change what ever is say inside to your folder name smith then save the file.
-Try to start the game join a server rank to level 2 (takes 1 round), exit game and see if it worked.
If you decide to reinstall or make that profile you have to click CANCEL - NO - CANCEL every time the game askes you to create a Online Profile, dont ever create a profile if you are using a downloaded game.

I get kicked out for: YOURNAME Punkbuster kicked player 'YOURNAME' (for 0 minutes) ... RESTRICTION: Corrupted File/Memory [81395]

This is a big problem in CoD5 and here you have a few reason why it can happen:

You changed the CoDWaWmp.exe to a cracked exe(dont do that just the server needs to crack the game).
You are using cheats - I hope you cant fix the game so that we never have to see your sprry ass on the servers.
Your downloaded version of the game is corrupt and have errors and you need to get a diffrent version so get the Reloaded Release

If its non of the abouv you can try this(or wait for patch 1.2):

1. Delet all the stuff in your PB folder
2. Go to evenbalance and download pbsetup or do the manual update
3. Follow the instructions
4. Try and connect.

If this still dosent help do this:

1. Uninstall the whole game(delet all folder after uninstall)
2. Install the game without install punkbuster
3. Use patch 1.1
4. Download and launch PBSETUP
5. Update pb
6. Play

I Keep getting kicked by punkbuster with some kick message about some rate what do i do?

You need to change your rate=your connection to the server, there are 2 ways to do this either go into Multiplayer Options and change it there under connetion, set it to LAN/cable/DLS.
Another way is to take down console and type /rate 25000 - then press enter.

I keep getting kicked for: Unknown Soldier(or other name) (slot #??) Bad (Disallowed) Name or maby you get kicked for Empty Player Name Disallowed

Just change you name to a better name, bad names could be HITLER, HESS or other bad words or profanity.
To change name type this in console: /name NEWNAME (then press enter)

I Keep geting kicked/banned from your server with this kick/ban message:

Notice: Server Disconnected - you have been permanently banned from this Game Server via PunkBuster ... GLOBAL PunkBuster GUID BAN 9aoca551

You need to change your CD-KEY in multiplayer options

PB keep kicking me for the reason bellow:

PunkBuster Client Removing "PLAYERNAME" 5a0a (GLOBAL Punkbuster GUID BAN 50a15a0a)

Well i dont really have any 100% fix to this problem but we have a way to fix it every time it happens.

Why you get kicked for it is becasue someone with the same cd-key that you use have been cheating and got caught and banned with a hardware ban + guid ban, meaning that all other players with the same CD-Key will also be banned.

If you get banned for this you can still change your CD-Key and start playing again but then you will have to do it the correct way of you might lose your rank, follow this LINK how to change CD-KEY.

The best way to fix this problem and for it to never ever comeback is to buy the game and get a real CD-KEY.

Punk Buster keeps kicking me with the following message:

Inadequate O/S Priviledges And for Ignoring MD5Tools Querries

The "Inadequate O/S Priviledges" means that you are not logged into your computer with Administration rights, and even if you are some people can still get that error follow this LINK TO HELP DOCUMENT with some diffrent solutions.

I get some WARNING message about old version of punkbuster or PB Init failure

PunkBuster is designed to auto-update itself during gameplay but sometimes it dosent work correctly and you need to update yourself, there are a few diffrent ways but PBsetup is the easiest way, you can read more HERE.

Quick Setup Guide for a Cracked World at War Server:

This guide will show you how to setup a CoD WaW server at home without any mods or other extras its just a simple server setup with Punkbuster enabled.

I tried to make this as simple as possible so that even a rookie server hosts can figure it out, if you hosted CoD servers before you already know the basics and shoud just use the files posted here and then head over to the Detailed Server Setup instead.

The diffrence from a cracked server and a normal is just the Private Server Patch(fixed exe) + the pb setting pb_sv_GuidRelax, read more about GuidRelax later in this guide.

First of all you need to install the game and the latest patch.

Download the correct Private Server Patch = fixed CoDWaWmp.exe and overwrite the original CoDWaWmp.exe(if you are running Patch 1.3 you need to download the fix for 1.3 and so on).

Create a CoDWaWmp.exe shortcut on your desktop and re-name it Server Start or something appropriate, right click on the shortcut and click properties, in the top line called TargetServercfgs.rar file and extract all 4 cfgs into the folder called main (inside the CoD WaW installation folder) and edit the cfgs for your own needs (use a text editor like wordpad or notpad to open .cfg files)

The maprotation.cfg is default set for a TDM rotation if you like to change gametype and rotation just remove the // infront of the choosen gametype and put new // infron of the TDM rotation, you can also edit your own rotation with mixed gametypes but make sure the server runns ok before you do to much changes(addin // infront of a setting in a cfg makes the command ineffective, thats why you see // infont of all explanation text inside a .cfg).

Now download the PBcfg.rar pack and extrack all 3 cfgs into the pb folder(inside the CoD WaW installtion folder), make sure to edit the server messages inside svrmsgs.cfg to your own messages, the pbsv.cfg is the main config for punkbuster and there are a some settings that you can edit but it will run fine as it is.

If your server seems to lags in even intervals it might be that the pbsv.cfg is to much to handle for your server and you need to change to the pbsv-simple.cfg (just rename it pbsv.cfg)

You can find the pb_sv_GuidRelax setting in pbsv.cfg - there are diffrent levels to set it to but since you are running a cracked server for people with downloaded games and generated cd-keys i recomment to keep it on 7, so pb_sv_GuidRelax 7

For more info on the basic console commands for Punkbuster read HERE and if you like a full list of punkbuster control check THIS

Now your can start your server using the shortcut we made and if it runs fine you should see someting like this:

To make sure the server is running type the server command: status - and press enter (no need to use / like ingame) you can also try serverinfo and see what info you get.

For more info on what commands to use to control your server in console with RCON read HERE

If you ge the awnser Server if not running when you do the status command you need to check this guide again to find out where you did wrong.

If everything went fine you should start tweaking and setting your server as you wish, but do it little by little and make sure it can run after your changes, evertime you do a change in the cfgs you need to save them and restart the server or send a command to execute the cfgs, this command is: exec server.cfg - this will execute all the 4 files located in main folder, some changes might not take effect untill a round or a map switch.
If you do a change in punkbuster and dont want restart server you can to the pb_sv_restart command.

If you like to control the server when playing on it yourself i recommend your to make a special shortcut that taks your to your server already logged in as RCON admin, if you choose to try to login to RCON ingame your taking a big risk exposing your password to all.

To make a special shortcut do like this:

Make a copy of your CoDWaWmp shortcut on desktop and name it someting like Admin Server 1, right click on the shortcut just like you did with the server shortcut and in the target line add this:

+rcon login RCONPW +password YOURPRIVATESLOTPW +connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:28960

This should result in something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\CoDWaWmp.exe" +rcon login YOURRCONPW +password YOURPRIVATESLOTPW +connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:28960

Now clicking that shotcut will take you into your server logged in as RCON admin, you can use the same command as you use in the serverconsole but when you are doing commands ingame you need to add the word rcon, so to check player IP you need to type:

/rcon status or to kick someone /rcon clientkick # and so on.

This ends the Quick Guide and I hope i made it clear enugh for most of you to understand, I myself spent alot of time on google to find information when i setup my first server in 2003 and it took me a few says getting it to run but if you have problems just use the forum to find help.

The diffrence from a cracked server and a normal is just the Private Server Patch(fixed exe) so by changing to a fixed exe you can now have players with downloade games to join your server.

You can still run punkbuster to help you sort out the cheater but you need to change 1 setting to stop it from kicking players that have the the same cd-key change the punkbuster setting pb_sv_GuidRelax to be 7 so make it "pb_sv_GuidRelax 7" and now all with downloaded games can enjoy the game.

In the Quick Setup Guide i posted some server.cfg and pb.cfg files that you can use for this guide aswell.

Common Problems & Solutions - Server Side - Game Errors:

Players complains about getting "No or bad challenge for this address" when they are trying to connect.

This is another CoD5 bug but there are a temporary fix for this for version 1.1 and untill the next patch comes, just download this NEW Fixed Server Patch and overwrite the old one.

My server keeps crashing with a error message saying "unhandled exception caught"

There are 2 solutions to this, first update your servers DirectX files using the files on the CoDWaW DVD, just run the setup in the DirectX folder or copy it to the server and run it.

The other fix is to set the playerrespawndelay for all gametype to at least 1, this bug is caused by a player respawning after getting killed on a bipod or turret, for some reason the server respawns the player before unlinking that players dead body from the turret causing the server to crash.
So seach your server.cfg and change all playerrespawndelay 0 to a value of atleast 1 or more if needed.

Common Problems & Solutions - Server Side - Punkbuster Errors/Settings:

Players keep getting kicked of your server for somethin like "DUPLICATE GUID/CDKEY"

The pb_sv_GuidRelax in the pbsv.cfg it set to kick players with the same cd-key and since we are running cracked servers alot of players will have the same cd-key and we need to change the default pb_sv_GuidRelax setting.

Changing this setting dosent matter for us cracked server hosts since we dont use GUID to ban anyway but it matter hell of alot for the gamers, and globaly banned players will still be kicked.
I run all my servers on pb_sv_GuidRelax 7 but its up to you to set your server as you like, but dont set it less then "4".

0 = Will kick for ALL
1 = Will not kick UNKNown GUIDS
2 = Will not kick for wrong IP addresses
3 = Will not kick for UNKNown GUIDS and wrong IP addresses
4 = Will not kick for DUPlicate GUIDS
5 = Will not kick for UNKNown GUIDS and DUPlicate GUIDS
6 = Will not kick for wrong IP addresses and DUPlicate GUIDS
7 = Will not kick for UNKNown GUIDS, wrong IP addresses, and DUPlicate GUIDS

i have followed the instructions i run with the lanfix, me and my friend are on the same hamachi network, first 4 letters of our ips match (ive heard this helps), and hamachi network adapter is at the top of the list.. but when he trys to join my server (he is using the lan fix as well) he cannot seem to ever see my games i just sit in the lobby and it doesn't show up on his end... any ideas?! ive tried various things i seen in other forums and no luck..

i have followed the instructions i run with the lanfix, me and my friend are on the same hamachi network, first 4 letters of our ips match (ive heard this helps), and hamachi network adapter is at the top of the list.. but when he trys to join my server (he is using the lan fix as well) he cannot seem to ever see my games i just sit in the lobby and it doesn't show up on his end... any ideas?! ive tried various things i seen in other forums and no luck..

But I have a problem, there's no profile folder in the CoD WaW installation folder. Take a look, I attached in this post. Unlike CoD4 there's the profile folder and everything works fine.

i have noticed that game never asked me to create online accounti had to go to the documents and setting folder create a folder then i type the name of the folder on the active.txt

Hi, Awesome guide, worked like a charm!

only finding two minor problems! Its playable, but they annoy me as hell.

When playing online, Tabbing out will couse you to get kicked from the server.
also, on top of that, if you ever get disconnected from a server, the console won't answer for any commands afterwards.

so simply, by tabbing out quickly to check something, cause me to have to restart the game and rejoin....
not a big problem, hope noone think i am complaining! i'm just asking if there is any solution for any of the problems,

I had the same as you have. Look up the profiles folder and see if there's a load of other profiles. If so, change your cd-key and you're good to go.

I got it to work by reinstalling all of my drivers. I have another problem, i am able top connect to a server but about 1-4 minutes after i start playing iot crashes saying "unhandled exception caught"
There is no profiles folder or players folder.

when I opened my "config_mp.cfg", file

seta com_startupIntroPlayed "0"

it was already set to zero, I reset it again just in case and saved the file, but still get the "Create an Account" screen at start-up. Maybe it's because I'm using Windows 7, not VISTA.

The other thing I noticed with V1.6 patch on Windows 7 is that I now have to quit the game completely if I want to join a different server. If I try to join a new server from inside the game, it doesn't connect.

Check to see which profile is active in the active.txt... should be $$$...
make sure to change the setting in config_mp.cfg the $$$ folder...

rename your $$$ folder to your player name, put that name in the active.txt and make it read-only, change the seta com_startupIntroPlayed to 0, save and you will have a offline profile with account creation disabled.

ok ive tried about 15 times with this and it keeps reverting back to create online account
Rename the $$$ folder to your player name,[ done]
put that name in the active.txt and make it read-only, [done] have tried replacing $$$ and leaving it
Make sure seta com_startupIntroPlayed is set to 0 in config_mp.cfg, save and exit. [done]

You will now have an offline profile with account creation disabled [ yes until the next time i run the game ]

after i rerun the game it asks me to creates online profile and when i go back the $$$ folder has been recreated

im not making much progress with this but ill post progress as it may help others the only way i can make this work is to make the config_mp.cfg read only wich obviously is not ideal i found a program that creates an online account automaticaly but although it works it reverts back to create onle profile next time you run it
ive disabled UAC IN vista wich i read could be the problem

I don't have the active.txt or config_mp.cfg in my CodWaW\players\profiles folder.
So now when I join a game and play, I get like lvl 4 or so and then when a new round starts, the stats reset.
So I'd really like to fix it. Anyone knows how to solve it? Will it work if someone uploads the files?

EDIT: Nvm.. I just created an Active.txt with my profile name in it and put it in the \profiles folder plus I added a folder with my profile name in \profiles. Everything works now.

Yeah this is a big problem... the cfg files are always being modified by the game each time you run it...
surprised no one's ever reverse engineered this and found a solution yet...

I got another problem. My previous problem is solved.. I made those files read only.
The other problem is that I can't play on punkbuster servers. When I connect I get disconnected after about 10 seconds and the following message shows: "My name" PunkBuster permanent ban issued on this Game Server for player 'My name'... GLOBAL PunkBuster GUID BAN b0c3ed26.
I deleted punkbuster and reinstalled it and I made a new account (new map in profiles folderand changed the active.txt and stuff). I also changed my cd-key several times. Those things don't seem to work, because I still get the same message on any PB server.
So.. does anyone know the solution?

I've found the solution I think.

Just make your config_mp.cfg READ-ONLY after changing seta com_startupIntroPlayed to "0". It worked for me.
